Vibration reduction of a filled trench

Cohere Consultants is performing a study on the expected vibration reduction of several design alternatives of a filled trench. The study is commissioned by the Dutch contractor De Lingense Alliantie.

Time dependent analyses are performed using a three dimensional finite element model. The model simulates moving axle loads over a ballasted track which result in waves propagating through the soil domain. In this project the software DIANA FEA is used.

Simulation of the situation before construction of the trench and after construction are performed. By the comparing the two situations a vibration reduction is determined for a number of distances to the trench.
